You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however.”
Today I completed the longest hike I’ve ever done, 16.83 miles with a total ascent of 3526.57 feet in almost exactly 8 hours. I’m proud of myself. Four months ago, I couldn’t have done this. I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

Woo hoo! I did it!

Many thanks to all my hiking buddies who have made this happen. In particular, Lisa, Peter, and Matt, who’ve accompanied me on multiple long-ass, major-elevation-gain hikes since January 25, Marian for getting me up the Sun Valley hill once or twice a week most weeks for the past few months, and Steph, with whom I’ve probably hiked more cumulative miles than anyone else. There have been many others who’ve walked the trails of Marin with me and I appreciate you all.

And gratitude to The Divine, Universal Spirt, HP, whatever the heck it was that sent me to watch “Walking the Camino: 6 Ways to Santiago” at the last minute just over 4 months ago. It has already been a transformative experience and I have yet to set foot on the Camino.

Almost back to Mill Valley. Just over 2 miles to go!
Two miles left! At this point, I thought we had only walked about 13 miles and was thinking how we could add another mile at the end so we could make it 15. Thank goodness I didn’t since it ended up being over 16.5!
How about a climb?
